Aussie Knife law update.

Posted on April 2, 2012 by Greg

I got an emotionally charged email from Luke this morning. He received a package containing six CRKT knives he recently purchased from me. His package was missing
4 of the 6 knives. In addition, his son-in-law lost 3 out of 4 he had purchased.

Follows is his ‘edited’ email. Understand that the 4 confiscated were considered assisted opening or ‘flick’ knives, meaning customs ‘believed’ they could
be opened by ‘flicking’ the wrist. Well, that can be extended to cover …

Whaler info!!!! And a 2011 Rendezvous Raffle Knife

Posted on July 7, 2011 by Greg

It ain’t much, but it’s something…… The latest on the Whaler is that it’ll be 4 3/8″ OAL closed and be a Swell Center. (An older, more mature version of French Kate later in life???)

There will also be a Rendezvous Raffle Knife which will be Whaler finished in a one of a kind handle material. What the material will be hasn’t been announced yet, but I understand it will be a nice
looking piece. Tickets are $1 each and you can get them from Chris at GEC. Send her a check with …

Sheath for the Single Skinner Blade 72 & 73 added to the store

Posted on July 6, 2011 by Greg

I finally got around to adding the new sheath from Knife Leather Traditions to the store this afternoon. The first sheath released for the 72 was designed to accommodate the large Spear Blade. Now
you can get the same sheath designed to fit the 72 Skinner blade AS WELL AS the Single Skinner blade model 73.

As with all of Dave’s sheaths, they’re available in 4 color choices, left or right hand carry and your choice of belt loop width. And did I mention the fact….if you’re not happy with the
sheath….send it …

New 73’s, Red Bone Steel Sunfish and a couple more Templars

Posted on July 5, 2011 by Greg

First things first. I received 7 of the Red Jigged Bone Steel Sunfish. GEC only made (I believe) 12 of them. Nice looking knife particularly with the stamped logo on the blades.

I don’t care  what GEC makes in the future, the #73 is still gonna rank way up toward the top of my list as an all time favorite. The new Tidioute’s with the Lanyard hole and swedged blades is
no exception. This knife just plain feels right in your hand. Personally, I don’t think they’ve made a knife to date …

July 4th’s Past

Posted on July 2, 2011 by Greg

1958 was a high watermark. We moved to town (pop. 800), finally had a house with indoor plumbing. No more carrying in drinking water and going outside to…. well, you know. An even bigger deal was
the coal furnace that actually heated the whole house AND our first TV. There were only 3 channels, but you couldn’t watch more than one channel at a time anyway!!!

But what made 1958 extra special was the 4th of July celebration. Not only was it the 4th, but our town was celebrating a centennial. There was a …

Great memories of 4th of July’s past!!!!

Posted on July 1, 2011 by Greg

I’ve got a couple of favorite holidays with Christmas and the 4th of July at the top of the list. Seems like as I get older the really fun memories of my, sometimes misspent, youth get brighter. Or
maybe it’s just that I’m starting to better understand those times for what they represented and how they helped shape me as a person.

My first two years of formal education started in the 1950’s in a small single room country schoolhouse filled with about 12 students total. In the front of the room, above the …
