Big disappointment, no shooting today. We had plans for a little more training this afternoon but it was cancelled due to illness. Our instructor and his family took ill and we’re all hoping its not the dreaded virus!
This has gotten to be a major source of entertainment in our household. Most days either include a trip to the range or the golf course. And some days it includes both!
I’ve always been a big fan of the Kimbers and this just gave me a reason to add to the selection. With my wife involved, it makes it much easier to identify some of the acquisitions as ‘gifts’ ….for her. That helps take the wind out of the old question of…. ‘why do you need another one’. There are 9mm’s, 10mm, 40 S&W, 38 Super and 45’s in compacts, mid-size and full size.

With the shooting we’ve been doing I’ve also gotten into a few simple mods. Primarily, changing out sights to HiViz light tubes and updating some Tritiums that have started to fade. And of course leather, mags, mag carriers and on and on. You think knives can get expensive? Guns are like a dog. The cost of the dog is insignificant when you factor in upkeep.
I’m fortunate I reload our ammo as ammunition has not only gotten hard to find, but it’s gotten expensive. It’s pretty easy to burn up $75 at the range every week and you can more then double that if you’re shooting factory rounds. But like any hobby, we enjoy it so it’s worth it.

I’m glad we got into the shooting as it’s been really difficult to find open campsites this summer. The State of Frustration (aka, Minnesota) still has some of the state parks closed or open on a limited basis. As a result, the private campgrounds are filled up. Guess it’s safer and healthier to wander around in WalMart instead of being outdoors around a campfire. Go figure….
We have had a couple of great outings and I’ll share a few pix with you. In a couple more weeks we head to North Dakota for a few days and later this fall we’ve penciled in a trip or two to the Northlands. I love summer but the days are starting to get obviously shorter. NOT a good sign.
